My Testimony
I want to start my testimony from as early as I can remember.
But first I want to share a verse. “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16 NIV
From birth, I was always sick, always in the hospital. Nobody could figure out why I had these fevers of 100+ degrees. I have many memories of running around the hospital, spending holidays there just my mom and I. I remember one Christmas at the age of 5 my mom couldn’t take it. I had a dangerously high fever they tried everything but my fever wouldn’t budge. The doctor told my mom if my temp lowered he would allow me to leave so that we can spend Christmas with our family. Out of desperation my mom called my Uncle Ruben, He told my mom to put the phone to my ear. He prayed for me and my mom told the doctor to check my temperature. My temperature was lower and I was able to leave and spend Christmas with my family. Since that day, I have never stood over night in a hospital ever again.
When I was 12 my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer. The doctor told her she had 6 months to live. I remember times where my dad would have to leave and would ask me to stay with my mom. I would see her weak and didn’t understand what was going on but I would sit with her and in my own way pray. We began to go to church and God did the miracle. From 6 months to live when I was 12 in 1997 to now 2026 my mom is still here.
That’s when I first realized God answers prayers.
Her faith was instilled in me.
The bible tells us: “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Life took me through many valleys. I didn’t stay in church since I was 12. I experienced life and learned the hard way that I should be in church.
Around 2009 I was trying to get back into church, I pleaded with God for something to happen and when it didn’t I rebelled. This led to a lot of pain and bad decisions. Part of me wanted to go to church and the other part wanted me to keep on the path I was on.
In 2010 I reconnected with the woman that is my wife now. I remember saying to myself this is just another girl I’m going to play with. My family loved her. I ultimately fell in love with her. June of 2011 she was pregnant with twin girls. Some weeks later we lost the babies. I remember when they were taking her into the operating room to remove the babies, I sat on the floor and cried.
In Nov of 2011 I proposed. We were in church and I wanted to honor God. Shortly after I was sleeping and had a dream. In the dream, God spoke to me and revealed that my wife was pregnant but it was not time. I woke up to my wife telling me she was pregnant. I didn’t react I told her to go tell my mom. I didn’t want to tell her what I dreamt about. We lost that pregnancy also. That time it didn’t affect me because God already prepared me but it affected my wife. My mom told me maybe God is not allowing us to be parents cause financially I wasn’t ready and we were not married.
In 2012 we got married. Work was going well. I remember when I got my promotion I came home to tell my wife, she told me she had something to tell me. She tells me she’s pregnant I was filled with joy. I immediately told her I got a promotion. God had did it. I was promoted, we were married, and now she was pregnant God is good.
Everything fell in line or so I thought.
One day I am sitting in the living room and I hear my wife screaming from the bathroom and I ran over there. She showed me a bloody tissue and told me she lost the baby again. I didn’t know what to say to her I called my mom and my wife went to her. I remember kneeling in my living room crying because that was 4 babies I lost I pleaded with God and asked "Why Lord why are you putting us through this."
Right there God reminded me of the time in 2009 when I asked for something didn’t get it so I rebelled. I began to tell God that I was not going anywhere that my life and my family will always belong to him. I told him I was not going to turn my back and I would remain faithful.
We went to see a specialist who told us we could not have kids. He said that we could try invitro but it was not guaranteed. Invitro is a very expensive procedure. My wife wanted to try it, my dad wanted to pay for it but I felt convicted. I felt convicted because I believe in a powerful God. I believed in the stories I read in the Bible. I didn't want science to take credit for what God could do.
Many times people say that God doesn’t do miracles like he did in the Bible but when the opportunity presents they try everything else other than God.
See I knew God does miracles from my sicknesses when I was a kid to healing my mom from cancer.
Still I didn’t realize the pain my wife was going through feeling like she failed me as a wife. Things got rough, I remember her pleading with me to allow her to do the invitro and I was against it. It pushed our relationship to the brink of separation. I told her "let’s give God one more chance and if it doesn’t happen we will try what the doctors wanted."
In 2013 she was pregnant again. When I heard the heartbeat I knew God once again had did the miracle.
In October on 2013 my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. Man that hurt. The first time she was diagnosed she was much younger so I was afraid. I became upset with God, I didn’t want to hear anything about God. I said God how can you give me my baby but are taking my mom, that’s what I was thinking.
I remember going to church with my family and my mom wanted all of us to pass to the front for prayer, I didn’t want to, I was hurt but I went for her. Pastor Carlos Amaro was praying for us. I remember every time he came to my head I would move it away. I didn’t want prayer. Those who know Pastor Amaro know he’s a strong man and he grabbed my head and held it while he prayed. I was like a little kid like ok just hurry up. I remember the Holy Spirit coming over me and I dropped to my knees, I laid my hand over my mom’s belly and I pleaded with God again. I said "God please remove what she has and give it to me I can carry the burden", I didn’t want to lose my mom with my baby due to be born soon.
Be careful what you wish for. See I prayed that with all the faith I had with an open mind and open heart I really wanted to save my mom.
That Monday I go to work and was told my department was closing down. I was given 2 options to either stay and wait for something else to open or accept a lay off. I said to myself I will take the lay off so I can be there for my mom. I go home and tell my wife I got laid off. That Tuesday I noticed a lump on my arm I told my wife I should get it checked out since my insurance was going to run out since I got laid off, she said that it was a simple procedure that she had seen it many times at her job.
That Wednesday I went to her job and the doctor checked me. He said he wasn’t sure what it was and sent me for an MRI. Thursday I got the MRI. I remember not thinking about it much until my wife got the results. She tried to make it seem like nothing but I asked her to read everything. She told me I had to see an Oncologist. Immediately I knew what it was I asked her if I had cancer and that’s when she told me. Fear immediately came in but I couldn’t react. My wife was high risk pregnancy, my mom was diagnosed with cancer already and my family was dealing with that.
I had to bottle up my fear in public.
I remember telling my brother and sister because I had to tell someone. We all agreed not to tell my mom who was scheduled to have surgery for her cancer. My dad was in the hospital with my mom and I felt the need to tell him because I was afraid.
That night my dad came home and called me up to his apartment for prayer. He took oil and prayed for me.
I still held onto faith but it was hard to hold everything in. Many times I cried in the shower I cried alone because I didn’t want to stress my family I prayed I pleaded I wanted to see my baby girl. I held onto the fact that I prayed for this, I begged God to remove it from my mom and give it to me.
I was scheduled for surgery around the same time my mom was and I made jokes saying we can recover together cause my surgery was simple. She had her surgery I had mine, I remember I just went through my recovery normal didn’t think of it.
In November of 2013 I was called by the doctors office and told that all the cancer was taken out, that I did not have to get treatment, no chemotherapy, no radiation, nothing. At that moment I knew that if God did it for me he did it for my mom. I knew that my mom was going to be ok.
The following week my mom got her update from the doctors office with the same news I received no chemotherapy, no radiation, nothing.
God is good.
The bible tells us in Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Storms will come but I chose to rely on God.
In January of 2014 my wife was due that month. I remember praying and asking God to allow my daughter to be born on January 12 which is my grandmother's bday. The day came and nothing. I took my wife to the mall to walk for hours trying to force the baby to come but nothing. I was a little upset with God cause I wanted my baby born on my grandmothers bday. But God had other plans, January 15 my wife goes into labor. I sat in the hospital upset because that date meant nothing to me.
During this time I had a Christian song on repeat called “UNO UNO Seis” by Andy Mineo. 12am hits and now it is January 16. I was immediately reminded of the song January 16 or “UNO UNO Seis” this led me to Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” I was so happy because that song meant a lot for me and that verse meant a lot to me. I felt that God was in the midst of it all. At 8pm my daughter began to lose oxygen and they had to have an emergency C Section. The doctor assured me it was going be fine.
My daughter was born at 8:12pm and John 8:12 says “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” This showed that God had a plan all the way down to the minute that my daughter was born.
God is good.
We had our miracle, my testimony.
God wasn’t done.
In 2014 my wife was pregnant again. Which was a huge surprise to us because we thought we got our miracle and were done but God always has other plans.
Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Not only was my wife pregnant but it was the boy my whole family waited for. See my parents only had grand daughters and my son was the first boy. I think every man wants a son, I know I definitely did. This pregnancy was different, I already had my miracle in my daughter my son was a bonus. I didn’t stress because I knew God was in control. My son was born prematurely by a month. Shortly after being born, my wife was in recovery holding him. My parents were in the room. My son stopped breathing. He turned purple. My dad noticed it first and said something to me. I remember I ran out and got a nurse. She grabbed my son from my wife’s hands and he was limp. Not breathing, not moving. She rushed out with him I didn’t panic, I called a friend of ours who was waiting in the waiting room with the rest of my family an asked for everyone to pray and we all prayed.
A few moments later I could hear a cry I knew that was my son. He was placed in the NICU with all these monitors and cables. His lungs were not fully developed which caused the problems when he was born. I remember sitting next to him in the machine and prayed over him. I didn’t want him to be a weak kid. We were given medication to give him that would help with his breathing. I remember I would take the night shift so my wife could rest and I would give him this medication. It was a mask that blew the medication in his face and he would struggle to breathe.
One night I prayed and I said God if you gave me this baby it was not to suffer from this moment on I give him to you and you have to heal him. I stopped the medication and told my wife we were no longer going to give him the medicine he was not weak he was a warrior. Since that night we never gave him the medication and he has never had any problems ever again.
The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”
My son is far from weak he has the energy of 10 men. He currently plays football and plays very well. I often wonder how he has all this energy and that is God. I pleaded with him and said I didn’t want a weak son and he gave me a warrior.
In 2016 I became a police officer. My life had officially reached the point I had been waiting for. I had my family and a career. In 2017 I was involved in a car accident that resulted in me getting surgery for my shoulder. I was out of work for some time I returned and was placed on light duty until I recovered. During my recovery I noticed that things were not progressing.
In 2019 the doctor ran some tests that showed I would not be able to be cleared for full duty. This scared me because I was only there for 3 years what was I going to do now. I called my wife scared and in tears. But God was in control. I called my lawyer and he told me not to worry to come in to the office. I spoke with his partner who told me I was good , that the police department would have to pay me my pension since it was not my fault.
In November of 2019 I was forced to retire and then Covid hit in early 2020. This put a stop to the whole process of receiving any pension payments. Financial stress brought strain on my marriage. We almost got to the point of divorce but I remained faithful I prayed and once again God intervened.
I was blessed with a great job in February of 2021. This saved my marriage. I kept praying for my pension and legal matters to get completed and I promised God that if he blessed me I would bless others.
That has always been my prayer, use my pockets to bless others.
My pension was still not approved. A month goes by and I get a call that the court finally made a decision I received my pension plus a back pay and on top of that I received a settlement offer for the accident in a substantial amount. I kept my promise to God and I was able to give an offering to my Pastor as well as help many others.
Luke 16:10 says “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.”
I finally was in a position to help people like I wanted but things slowly started to change. Work became more stressful. I started to feel I should open my own business. But fear didn’t let me. Sometimes we get comfortable and ignore what God is trying to do. I didn’t follow his direction and ultimately God forced me out of the job.
On December 19, 2025 6 days before Christmas I was let go from my job. This time I didn’t let stress overwhelm me. I stopped and listened to God. I got involved in church more. One day my Pastor asked if I can assist in creating a new logo for the church, I said yes. I enjoyed the creation and the fact that everyone liked the design that I said maybe I can do this as a company.
God placed it in my heart to start a brand that was based company and it’s called Testify. I feel testimonies help so many people. I wanted to create a brand that does that. I wanted to create something that was bold in faith and sparked conversation. That is my goal with this brand.
I look forward to what God has for me and my family.
John 3:33 says: “He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.”
The enemy wanted me sick. God healed me.
The enemy wanted my mother dead. God extended her life.
The enemy wanted my marriage broken. God restored it.
The enemy wanted my children gone. God gave me miracles.
The enemy wanted my career stripped. God gave me purpose.
Storms will come. But the fire will not finish you.
If God has done something in your life — Don’t hide it. Testify. Because your testimony is proof that God is still moving.
Overcome. Inspire. Share your story.
God bless you.
